Task 1
  1. Download the source code archive for the SBDART model: http://irina.eas.gatech.edu/EAS8802_Fall2016/sbdart.tar.gz
  2. Create a directory for the code (e.g. sbdart)
  3. Unpack archive in the directory
  4. Edit Makefile (specify your FORTRAN compiler)
  5. compile the model: make
Task 2

To compute radiative transfer though the atmosphere run the SBDART Code (./sbdart.exe or ./sbdart) for the clear atmosphere.

Investigate the effect of the surface albedo on the reflected radiation TOPUP, consider the range of representative of values the surface albedo.

Explain the spectral behaviour of the TOPDN and BOTDN fluxes

Task 3

To compute radiative transfer though the atmosphere run the SBDART Code (./sbdart.exe or ./sbdart) for the atmosphere with clouds.

Clouds play a key role in affecting the radiation propagation through the atmosphere.

Investigate the sensitivities of radiative fluxes to the optical depth of clouds, considering different types of the atmospheric conditions. Consider fluxes at the surface BOTDW and the top of atmosphere TOPUP

Consider different optical depth in the range from 0 to 10, altitudes of clouds (5 10 km), and drop size (10 30 μm)
